With it being an always-online game, there’s always the chance that Fortnite’s servers can go down. But how long will they be down for, what’s caused the issue, and how can you check the official Fortnite server status according to developer and publisher Epic Games? Let’s dig in.
Are Fortnite Servers Down?
As it stands, the Fortnite servers are down.
Today (Feb. 21, 2025), Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 is kicking off. Subtitled Lawless, this season will be focused all around crime. As a result, Fortnite’s matchmaking servers have been shut off as of 2am ET, and server downtime has begun while the development team roll out the new content update. This news was confirmed by the Fortnite Status Twitter account.
The Fortnite servers are typically very stable, going down for scheduled server maintenance when a new season or content update is released. However, there have been a few occasions, such as in December 2023, where the servers went down unexpectedly for a prolonged period. Epic Games were quick to address, providing regular status updates via the Fortnite Status account linked above.
Players who were affected might’ve also been seeing the Fortnite Servers Not Responding error.
This was largely a Battle Royale issue, so LEGO Fortnite users probably weren’t affected or noticed there was any problem.
If there are any further developments from this, we will be sure to update this guide and let you know.
